U.S. Army Sgt. Emmanuel Bizindavyi, a petroleum specialist with 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), refuels a CH-47 Chinook helicopter at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., March 28, 2026. Preparation, such as refueling, ensures aircraft are ready to support U.S. Border Patrol at a moment's notice. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
