The Army West Point Marathon team hosted the 2026 Fallen Comrades Half Marathon on March 22 at West Point. Now in its 10th year, more than 900 participated by conquering a challenging 13.1-mile course in remembrance of 13 fallen West Point graduates at each mile marker. The event featured a combination of a run and ruck divisions, along with a one-mile Kids Run. At each mile marker along the route stood easels commemorating West Point graduates who made the ultimate sacrifice during Vietnam and the Global War on Terrorism. While the half marathon promotes fitness, it also underscores the solemn purpose of the race. Before the race, Gail Dwyer, mother of CW3 Stephen Dwyer Jr., USMA Class of 2009, delivered an inspiring speech to the runners of her son's motto, "never quit, never give up." She encoruaged the participants to live with purpose while also honoring the fallen comrades. (Photo by Eric S. Bartelt/USMA PAO-VI)
