U.S. Army Col. Frizzelle, commander of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, and Command Sgt. Maj. Deleon, the brigade command sergeant major, uncase the brigade colors during a ceremony outside Ray Barracks, Germany, March 24, 2026. The ceremony marked the unit’s return to Europe for the first time in 20 years.
The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, known as “Ready First,” was stationed at Ray Barracks from 1992 to 2007 before relocating to Fort Bliss, Texas. Since then, the brigade has supported operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and South Korea.
The uncasing signifies the brigade’s renewed presence in the European theater, where it will operate alongside NATO allies to strengthen deterrence and regional security.
