NAVAL STATION GREAT LAKES (March 24, 2026) — Staff members from Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) tour Surface Warfare Engineering School Command (SWESC) Great Lakes' USS Whitehat training facility and Visual Identification Virtual Reality (VIDVR) labs, Mar. 24, during a visit to Naval Station Great Lakes. The intent of DFAS's visit is to better understand basic trainees' in-processing experience, their transition from trainee graduates to technical trainees, and finance actions for basic and technical trainees. SWESC is responsible for providing technical training to every surface Navy engineer, quartermaster, boatswain and deck seaman; preparing each Sailor to perform on U.S. Navy ships operating around the globe.
