A U.S. Air Force U-2 Dragon Lady assigned to the 9th Reconnaissance Wing, Beale Air Force Base performs a flyby during the Luke Days airshow, Friday, Mar. 20, 2026, at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. Aircraft demonstrations, like the U-2, throughout Luke Days 2026 illustrate the speed, precision and operational capability that underpin the history and continuation of American air superiority. Routinely flown at altitudes over 70,000 feet, U-2 pilots must wear a full pressure suit similar to those worn by astronauts. The low-altitude handling characteristics of the aircraft and bicycle-type landing gear require precise control inputs during landing. (U.S. Air National Guard Photo by Tech. Sgt. Hampton Stramler)
