    U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Jason Nield, a rifleman with 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), places markers onto an Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) to provide real-time updates on potential cross-border activity to U.S. Customs and Border Protection along the U.S.-Mexico border in the San Diego sector, Calif., March 17, 2026. The ATAK assists service members in navigating using GPS and geospatial map data overlaid with real-time situational awareness. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
