Cornell University Professor Sturt Manning and Laura Hlister, graduate student, take a tree ring core sample from the LeRay Mansion attic, while Dr. Josh Oliver observes during a visit in March 2025 to the LeRay Mansion Historical District at Fort Drum, New York. The Cornell dendrochronology team made multiple visits to the district to conduct core testing on the timbers inside the mansion. By using this method, the Cornell team confirmed that the white pine timber used to build the mansion framework was cut in August or early fall of 1825. (Fort Drum Directorate of Public Works photo)
