Freedom Shield 26 Mass Casualty Training

U.S. Army Spc. Kameron Fisher, a combat medic specialist assigned to 2nd Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, checks between a casualty’s ribs to ensure proper breathing on a casualty during Mass Casualty training as part of Freedom Shield on Twin Bridges Training Area, South Korea, Mar. 17, 2026. Training for mass casualty events prepares soldiers to respond effectively in extreme scenarios, enabling them to save the maximum number of lives while sustaining combat power by preserving the force and maintaining operational effectiveness.
Freedom Shield is an annual combined exercise conducted in support of the ROK-U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty signed in 1953. This combined exercise highlights the ironclad commitment between the two nations to maintain a robust combined defense posture and to defend the people of the ROK and the United States from any threat or adversary.
