Drill sergeants with 198th Infantry Brigade, out of the Maneuver Center of Excellence, competed at the 2026 U.S. Army Small Arms Championships at Fort Benning, Georgia March 8-14. Soldiers from left to right are: Staff Sgt. Dallas Caufield Echo Company 1-50 Infantry Battalion; Staff Sgt. Jacob Hood of Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 54th Infantry Regiment; Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Leib of Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry Regiment; and Sgt. 1st Class Dennis Dowdy, Delta Company, 2-54 Infantry Battalion.

The annual, live-fire training event, which is hosted by the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, tests soldiers marksmanship skills in 13 separate rifle, pistol and multigun matches, that includes firing more than 500 rounds. The competition, which is often referred to as ‘All Army’, is open to active-duty, Reserve, National Guard and the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) cadets. The goal is to raise the standards of marksmanship and increase lethality across the entire force.
