Multinational forces build CBRN-E response skills during Justified Accord 2026

U.S. Army Cpt. Fernando Rubio, a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives (CBRN-E) officer with U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), and Royal Netherlands Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 Howard May, a Defence CBRN Center officer, discuss forensic awareness skills during a Justified Accord 2026 CBRN-E academics class at the Humanitarian Peace Support School, Nairobi, Kenya, March 6, 2026. The academic session strengthened shared understanding of CBRN-E threat identification, response procedures and mitigation techniques while enhancing interoperability and knowledge exchange between U.S. and Kenya forces.

JA26 increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance and crisis response, prepares regional partners for United Nations and African Union missions, and builds readiness for the U.S. joint force. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), and hosted in Djibouti, Kenya, and Tanzania, JA26 is U.S. Africa Command’s largest exercise in East Africa. (U.S. Army photo by Spc.
