U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Zachary O’Tinger, combat medic with the East Africa Response Force - Task Force Bataan, Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa, assists soldiers from the Tanzania People’s Defence Force as they practice casualty movement using a four-person lift during Tactical Combat Casualty Care training as a part of exercise Justified Accord 2026, Msata Military Training Base, Msata, Tanzania, March 5, 2026. The team loaded a simulated casualty onto a stretcher to be carried to a nearby ambulance for evacuation.

JA26 increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance and crisis response, prepares regional partners for United Nations and African Union missions, and builds readiness for the U.S. joint force. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) and hosted in Djibouti, Kenya and Tanzania, this year’s exercise incorporates personnel from approximately 10 nations. JA26 is U.S. Africa Command’s largest exercise in East Africa. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Tech. Sgt. Phil Cowen)
