A1C Patrick Hogan, Ammunition Inspector, and SSgt Riston Mais Senior, Ammunition Inspector each assigned to the 377th Maintenance Squadron (MXS) inspect and sort Expended Small Arm Cartridge Casings (ESACCs) at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, March 10, 2026. This inspection ensures all rounds are free of explosive material before being sealed for turn-in to a local recycling center. This step is a vital part of a new, organic base process developed by TSgt Justin Moyle, Material Section Chief and the 377th MXS to manage the destruction of non-serviceable brass. The 377th MXS Munitions Materiel Section manages a $17M arsenal and projects this recycling initiative will generate an annual profit of $60,000 for the 377th Air Base Wing Qualified Recycling Program (QRP).
