Soldiers assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) conduct a Fast Rope Insertion and Extraction System (FRIES) event during the division’s Best Squad Competition at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, March 5, 2026. Teams from across the division are competing to determine who will represent the 101st at the next level of the competition. The multi-day event tests squads on their physical strength, endurance and ability to execute essential Soldier tasks and battle drills to standard.
