A U.S. Marine Corps AH-1Z Viper assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265, Marine Expeditionary Unit, fire ordnance during Iron Fist 26 at range Whiskey 174, off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, March 5, 2026. The bilateral exercise showcased coordinated deployment and training using close-range precision fires enhancing combat readiness and interoperability with allies and partners. The 31st MEU is a persistent, combat credible force operating aboard the ships of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group in the U.S. 7th fleet area of operations, routinely interacting and operating with our allies and partners to contribute to deterrence, security, crisis response, and combat operations in the Indo-Pacific region.
