JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaiʻi — Yeoman 1st Class Steven Wray, a Sailor attached to Navy Information Operations Command Pacific, inspects a native tree for invasive growth at the Haʻiku Valley Culture Preserve on Oahu, March 8, 2026. The Navy Office of Community Outreach (NAVCO) participated in the event as part of its weeklong Hawai'i Navy Week, which takes place on the islands of Hawai'i and O'ahu. Hawai'i Navy Week is the second of 12 Navy Weeks taking place in 2026 as part of the Navy Office of Community Outreach’s “Road Trip to 250,” a nationwide effort supporting America's 250th birthday, Freedom 250. Navy Weeks bring a variety of assets, equipment and personnel to a single city for a weeklong series of engagements designed to connect communities across America with their Navy, highlighting shared history and the enduring commitment to defending freedom and supporting the nation’s independence. Each year, the program reaches more than 30 million people—about half of the U.S. population. (U.S. Navy photo by Lydia Robertson)
