U.S. Marines with Company I, Battalion Landing Team 3/1, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force soldiers with the 3rd Amphibious Rapid Deployment Regiment push to sea to conduct a simulated bilateral small boat raid at Kin Blue Training Area, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 26, 2026. The U.S. Marines and JGSDF soldiers conducted a combined operation to secure an objective to improve bilateral integration and strengthen cohesion between partner forces. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase operational integration and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
