Japan Ground Self-Defense Force soldiers with the 3rd Amphibious Rapid Deployment Regiment, engage at enemy forces during a simulated bilateral raid at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 25, 2026. The U.S. Marines and JGSDF soldiers conducted a combined operation to secure two targets to improve bilateral integration and strengthen cohesion between partner forces. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase operational integration and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
