Rual Heugas the commanding officer of Company I, Battalion Landing Team 3/1, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, greets members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force soldiers with the 3rd Amphibious Rapid Deployment Regiment at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 24, 2026. The U.S. Marines and JGSDF soldiers worked to strengthen cohesion between partner forces and to share tactics, techniques and procedures during Iron Fist 26. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase operational integration and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
