The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit displays the capabilities of the amphibious ready group to members of the French Armed Forces, British Armed Forces, Australian Defence Force, and the Japan Self-Defense Force aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli (LHA 7), off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 27, 2026. The visit strengthened relationships between allies and partners, and deepened the understanding of our combined capabilities and shared interests. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase operational integration and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.
