US, Kenya field artillery crews validate gunnery proficiency during JA26 Table V dry-fire training

U.S. Army Spc. Phi Hoang, a combat medic assigned to the 1st Battalion, 101st Field Artillery Regiment, Massachusetts National Guard, shares medical insight with a Kenya Defence Forces gun chief during a Justified Accord 2026 Table V notional dry-fire simulation designed to certify crew chiefs and members in safe, accurate, and rapid fire procedures before advancing to live-fire Table VI qualifications at Bearing Point 2, Laresoro, Kenya, March 4, 2026. This intermediate training phase integrated Kenya Defence Forces gun chiefs to help validate technical proficiency for crews and Fire Direction Centers, ensuring multinational readiness for large-scale combat operations.

JA26 increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance and crisis response, prepares regional partners for missions with the United Nations and African Union, and builds readiness for the U.S. joint force. Led by SETAF-AF and hosted in Djibouti, Kenya, and Tanzania, the exercise is U.S. Africa Command’s largest in East Africa. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. James Toohey)
