Maj. Jerry Coleman-Dodson, an intelligence officer with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, briefs Lt. Gen. Roger Turner, commanding general of III Marine Expeditionary Force, during the general’s visit as part of Iron Fist 26 aboard the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli (LHA 7), off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, March 4, 2026. This visit offered an opportunity for leaders to recognize Marines and Sailors for their dedication as well as discuss the unit’s current capabilities and future advancements. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase operational integration and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
