U.S. Army Capt. Tyler Harris, commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 101st Artillery Regiment, Massachusetts Army National Guard, listens to feedback from Kenya Defence Forces artillerymen during a Justified Accord 2026 Table IV training after action review at Bearing Point 2, Laresoro, Kenya, March 3, 2026. The AAR provided an opportunity for U.S. and Kenya soldiers to evaluate performance, share lessons learned, and identify ways to improve training and coordination for future missions. The joint exercise began with two U.S. M119A2 howitzer sections and two KDF sections training together to certify on Table IV, a key standard for gunnery proficiency. Following the gunnery qualifications, forward observers from both nations conducted their own Table IV certification, validating their ability to call for fire and reinforcing interoperability and shared readiness between the two forces.
JA26 increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance and crisis response, prepares regional partners for missions with the United Nations and African Union, and builds readiness for the U.S. joint force. Led by SETAF-AF and hosted in Djibouti, Kenya, and Tanzania, the exercise brings together personnel from approximately 15 nations and is U.S. Africa Command’s largest exercise in East Africa.
