US, Kenya Defense Forces test communications interoperability during Justified Accord 2026

U.S. Army Cpl. Gabriel Abreu, an information technology specialist assigned to the 207th Military Intelligence Brigade (Theater), works with Kenya Defence Forces radio operators to establish field communications during a Justified Accord 2026 communications exercise at Bearing Point 2, Laresoro, Kenya, March 3, 2026. Together, they set up an OE-254 antenna and programmed a high-power, high-frequency radio to connect with the Humanitarian Peace Support School command and control headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. They also configured an AN-158 radio to test interoperability and communication capabilities between U.S. and Kenyan radios operating in the field.

JA26 increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance and crisis response, prepares regional partners for missions with the United Nations and African Union, and builds readiness for the U.S. joint force. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) and hosted in Djibouti, Kenya and Tanzania, the exercise brings together personnel from approximately 15 nations and is U.S. Africa Command’s largest exercise in East Africa.
