A U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and a Japanese V-22 Osprey assigned to 108th Aviation, Transport Aviation Group, conduct a Forward Air Refueling Point before executing a bilateral fly over exercise with members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force as a part of Iron Fist 26, at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Feb 24, 2026. Marines and members of the JGSDF conducted a joint bilateral flyover in order to improve interoperability and strengthen relations. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase operational integration and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
