1st Armored Division opened Torch Week with the Division’s first AH-64E Apache Guardian helicopter leading the Division formation during the division run at Fort Bliss, Texas, March 2, 2026.
The 1st Armored Division's Combat Aviation Brigade is transforming into a Heavy Combat Aviation Brigade, the aviation formation optimized for lethality in large scale combat operations. The AH-64E is Army’s most advanced Apache variant, integrating improved sensors, connectivity and manned-unmanned teaming capabilities that enhance battlefield awareness and extend combat reach. The milestone flight reflects the Army’s continued modernization efforts to build a more lethal, agile and technologically integrated force prepared for future conflicts.
