Athen Michael Garrido from 9th Mission Support Command organizes his gear for the Organizational Clothing and Individual Equipment (OCIE) layout to ensure all equipment is accounted for, serviceable, and properly packed according to standard operating procedures during in processing on Schofield Barracks for the Joint 9th MSC and 311th SCT Best Squad Competition on March 1, 2026. During the Best Squad competition, which takes place from March 1-6, 2026, Soldiers are tested on small-unit leadership, technical skills, and stamina through events like ruck marches, weapons qualification, map reading and land navigation, a swimming event, a ruck march, and an obstacle course at different locations across Oahu Island to select the best squads, best Soldier, and the best noncommissioned officer (NCO) to represent the 9th Mission Support Command at the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) and the U.S. Army Reserve Command (USARC) Best Squad competitions.
