Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) Electrical Engineer Nicholas Stepenosky and Computer Engineer Brian Rivera-Lau pose for a photo as winners of the 2025 NSWCPD Command Award in the Innovation Category for their work on the DDG 51 Class Machinery Control Systems Playback Tool Team. Stepenosky and Rivera-Lau developed a data retrieval toolset that directly interfaces with the DDG 51 Arleigh Burke-class Machinery Control System, which supports the ship’s critical functions, including propulsion, electrical power, and damage control.
