A military awards or recognition ceremony is taking place outdoors, likely at a U.S. Marine Corps installation. Several Marines in desert MARPAT camouflage uniforms are lined up while a senior officer presents what appears to be a citation or award from a red folder. Civilian and military observers are gathered in the background watching the proceedings.

Staff Sgt. Miguel Diaz, Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Africa 13 mechanic from Tucson, Ariz., is promoted to his current rank by Maj. Gen. Raymond Fox, Marine Forces Africa commanding general, during an awards and promotion ceremony at U.S. Embassy Tripoli, Libya, April 7, 2013. The Marines with Special-Purpose MAGTF Africa 13 are the first reserve Marines to serve in Tripoli in an official capacity, providing additional security to the U.S. Embassy. Special-Purpose MAGTF Africa strengthens U.S. Marine Corps Forces Africa and U.S. Africa Command’s ability to assist partner nations in addressing their security challenges. The approximately 150 Marines and sailors conduct security force assistance, military-to-military engagements and are trained to provide support to crisis response. (Courtesy photo/Released)
