    The Washington Aqueduct's primary water intake at Great Falls, located upstream of the Jan. 19 Potomac Interceptor collapse site, continues to operate normally, Washington, D.C., metro area, Feb. 19, 2026. The regional drinking water supply remains safe and unaffected. All water sourced from the Potomac River undergoes multi-stage purification at Washington Aqueduct's Dalecarlia and McMillan treatment plants and meets or exceeds EPA safety standards, serving an average of 150 million gallons per day to wholesale customers DC Water, Arlington County and Fairfax Water.
