Air Force Gen. Steve Nordhaus, chief, National Guard Bureau, joins Mr. Patrick Weaver, senior advisor to the Secretary of War, to visit Louisiana National Guardsmen who were activated in support of Operation NOLA Safe to assist law enforcement partners with public safety efforts throughout the French Quarter during the Carnival season, New Orleans, Louisiana, Feb. 23, 2026. More than 350 Louisiana National Guard Soldiers supported federal, state and local law enforcement partners throughout peak Mardi Gras security operations. Assigned to Task Force Defender, Guardsmen assisted with access control, conducted roving patrols and maintained a quick reaction force within the French Quarter Enhanced Security Zone.
