U.S. Soldiers assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade teamed with the Italian Folgore Brigade (Brigata Paracadutisti Folgore) as they rucked towards the finish line in support of the “Best of” series in Pisa, Italy, Feb. 12, 2026. The unknown distance ruck march and land navigation portions of the series prepared Sky Soldiers for follow-on competitions such as the best ranger, best sapper, as well as the best sniper and best mortar competitions. The 173rd Airborne Brigade serves as the U.S. Army’s contingency response force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces across the U.S. European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility.
