At the Munitions and Weapons Division, test officers must earn either a mortar or artillery firing certification to work independently and lead a test. Those who earn their artillery certification also earn a Badge of Artillery memento that represents the significance of their accomplishment and gravity of their responsibility as an artillery tester. The most recent recipients are Carlos Duarte, Erik Alcala and Hector Magana, pictured with Richard Bloomfield who came up with the idea for the badge.
