Pre-Commissioning Unit John F. Kennedy’s (CVN 79) Assistant Navigation Officer, Lt. Alyssa Randell, from Fairfax, Virginia, reads route coordinates as part of the John F. Kennedy bridge team’s Immediate Superior in Command (ISIC) certification at Mariner Skills Training Center Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia, Jan. 9, 2026. The bridge team is the first to certify as qualified for underway operations aboard Kennedy through the ISIC navigational certification using advanced simulators to prepare and test Sailor’s skills in seamanship, navigation and ship handling.
