U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Bristol Bay (WTGB 102) hoists winter marker buoys to establish on the Detroit River in Michigan Dec. 8, 2025. The Bristol Bay was conducting buoy operations in support of Operation Fall Retrieve, a Great Lakes District initiative to remove navigational aids and replace them with ones more suitable for winter conditions, allowing for commercial vessels to still transit in the winter months.
