William Houston, director, Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, middle, prepares to have lunch aboard Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Scranton (SSN 756) during a commanders’ luncheon, Feb. 6, 2026. The luncheon included Capt. Phillip Sylvia Jr., commander, Submarine Squadron (CSS) 11, and commanding officers from USS Greeneville (SSN 772), USS Scranton (SSN 756), USS Santa Fe (SSN 763), and USS Alexandria (SSN 757). Scranton, one of four Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarines assigned to Commander, Submarine Squadron 11, is capable of supporting various missions, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-ship warfare, strike warfare and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
