Sailors assigned to Air Department aboard Pre-Commissioning Unit John F. Kennedy (CVN 79), conduct a foreign object debris (FOD) walkdown after a simulated fire during a crash and salvage casualty and response training on the flight deck, Dec. 17, 2025. A FOD walk down ensures the safety and integrity of aircraft and equipment by preventing the introduction of foreign objects that could pose a risk or cause damage during flight operations. John F. Kennedy is the second Ford-class aircraft carrier, and is under construction at Huntington Ingalls Industries' Newport News Shipbuilding division in Newport News, Virginia.
