From right to left, Lieutenant-Colonel Ryan Setter, Air Task Force (ATF) Commander, Commanding Officer of the Joint Arctic Command (JACO) for the Kingdom of Denmark, Major-General Soren Andersen, and Colonel Shawn Lee, Commander of the 821st Space Base Group, meet at Pituffik Space Base, Greenland, on January 29, 2026, in support of Operation NOBLE DEFENDER, an air defence mission conducted under the direction of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). It is designed to validate the command’s capability to defend Canada and the United States against threats for every angle of approach. NORAD conducts sustained, dispersed operations under OND across the North American content, through one or all NORAD regions (Alaska, Canada and the continental U.S.).
