A robotic dog trots onto the beach at the Portuguese Navy Operational Experimentation Center in Troia, Portugal, on Sept. 25 after riding to shore aboard an unmanned surface vessel during a demonstration that marked the conclusion of the NATO 2025 Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems exercise, known as REPMUS. The robot demonstrated its ability to provide remote reconnaissance and surveillance in advance of a manned fighting force without putting sailors and soldiers at additional risk.
