A Military Working Dog (MWD) assigned to 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) holds onto a simulated suspect to prevent him from escaping after a mock altercation at Yuma Proving Ground, Ariz., Jan. 20, 2026. MWD’s are trained on a regular basis to detect adversaries, Improvised Explosive Devices (IED’s), and other hazards that could put Green Berets in harm's way. They are an integral portion of the Silent Eagle exercise performed every year with partner forces from around the world.
1st SFG(A) conducts special operations throughout the U.S. IndoPacific Command areas of responsibility, in order to support command objectives and U.S. national interests. The group maintains and employs units of action to execute the full spectrum of special operations at a moment's notice with allies, partners, and the joint force.
