U.S. Marines with Medium Marine Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepare to refuel a UH-1Y Venom helicopter assigned to Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron (VMM) 265 (Rein.) during a forward arming and refueling point exercise on Landing Zone Dodo at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 8, 2026. Marines established a forward arming and refueling point to ensure air superiority and maintain lethality. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force, ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
