Naval Station Newport Security Department conducted a joint drill with local mutual aid partners from the city of Newport, R.I. The event took place Jan. 29, 2026 during Exercise Citadel Shield at the installation. The teams worked together in responding to an active shooter and mass casualty incident. This type of training improves communication and interoperability between agencies.
