U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District Public Affairs team conducts drone operations ahead of Winter Storm Fern to provide the Flood Risk Management Division with updated aerial footage. The Baltimore District operates three dams in the West Branch Susquehanna River Basin flood control system: the 165-foot Alvin R. Bush Dam on Kettle Creek, the 131-foot Curwensville Dam on the West Branch, and the 100-foot Foster Joseph Sayers Dam on Bald Eagle Creek. "We're on a flood risk management mission, and it is a 24/7 endeavor," said Jim Keller, assistant dam operator at Foster Joseph Sayers Dam. The dams work in coordinated operation with Pennsylvania's George B. Stevenson Dam to provide optimum flood protection for downstream communities.
