A severe winter storm swept through the Southwest, Midwest, South and Northeast, Jan. 24-26.
Severe winds and frigid temperatures left millions without power in 34 states. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District prepositioned members of its Temporary Emergency Power Team to Fort Campbell, Ky., ahead of the storm. Tulsa District's power team is one of five USACE teams that manage and deliver generators to public and critical facilities at the request of states. Keystone Dam, in the background provides peak power generation to support load demands when the Southwestern Power Administration requests hydroelectric power generation.
