YOKOSUKA, Japan (Jan. 17, 2026) – Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force chief petty officers, along with their families and friends, visited Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) Naval Base on January 17, 2026. The celebration brought together the CFAY community for the Annual Chief Petty Officer Association Mochi Pounding Festival at Yokosuka Naval Base. Sailors and families from both communities gathered to take part in traditional Japanese rice-harvest customs, creating a hands-on cultural experience that strengthened shared heritage, mutual respect, and camaraderie between the two Chiefs’ Messes.
