A USCGC Polar Star (WAGB 10) crew member looks on at an Australian-owned cruise ship being escorted out of the Ross Sea after requesting assistance to depart the ice on the cutter’s 50th birthday, Jan. 17, 2026 during Operation Deep Freeze 2026.
