A U.S. Soldier assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, uses his M4 carbine weapon mounted optics during a situational training exercise at Bemowo Piskie Training Area, Poland, Jan. 18, 2026. The exercise tested the soldiers' ability to react to contact in a tactical environment. The M68 Close Combat Optic, or CCO, improves target acquisition speed and situational awareness by allowing Soldiers to shoot with both eyes open.
