U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl., Devin Melendez, an electrician, and Cpl. Quinton Breighner, a combat engineer, with 1st Combat Engineer Battalion (1st CEB), 1st Marine Division, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), welds a pre-fabricated bracket onto the existing southern border barrier in Yuma, Ariz., Jan. 16, 2026. 1st CEB barrier reinforcement operations aim to enhance physical security measures on the existing southern border barrier. JTF-SB executes full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to protect the territorial integrity of the United States and achieve 100% operational control of the southern border.
