NEWPORT, R.I.— Chairman of the German Military Institute (GMI) Flotilla Adm. Jens Grimm is received by U.S. Naval War College (NWC) President Rear Adm. Darryl Walker during a visit onboard Naval Station Newport, Jan. 16, 2026. The visit saw Grimm meet with NWC students of the German Navy and discuss the mission of NWC and modern naval warfare during a command brief and tour. Established in 1884, NWC informs today’s decision-makers and educates tomorrow’s leaders by providing educational experiences and learning opportunities that develop their ability to anticipate and prepare strategically for the future, strengthen the foundations of peace, and create a decisive warfighting advantage.
