Soldiers from the United States Army Air Ambulance Detachment (USAAAD), 2-158th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, conduct a routine training flight at Yakima Training Center, Washington, on Dec. 17, 2025. With severe flooding and winter weather in the region, aircrews stay ready for the mission by conducting routine training flights to maintain readiness and response capability. The aircrews conducted 24 missions for the Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) during 2025, involving medical emergencies from spinal and open compound fractures to flood rescues, utilizing rescue seats, SKED litters, and air rescue vests at elevations primarily between 7,000 and 10,000 feet.
