U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Joshua Wheeler, radio reconnaissance platoon sergeant with 2d Radio Battalion, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, skis during Winter Warfare Course in Kalix, Sweden, Jan. 5, 2026. The purpose of WWC is to train ground forces in a variety of cold-weather subjects, including skiing, how to use pulk sleds, develop winter fighting positions, camouflage and concealment, and several other areas that are vital in order to survive and operate in a cold-weather environment.
